Design

Spazio Como strikes the visitor for its peculiar design - thanks to which it won the prestigious award “Premio Maestri comacini 2009 for the “new building” category – representing a creative solution to technical requirements.

There was the need for a meeting room seating 300 people, as light as possible and open to the park, but without direct daylight.

Attilio Terragni gave his professional reply to these requirements by intersecting the disposition of volumes with long surfaces  arbitrarily located in the space so as to create openings whose inner sections minimize the effect of direct daylight in the room.

Inside, the room reveals the intersection of light cuts running through both vertically and horizontally in a mix of  rules and chaos, between the volumes and the daylight.
The outside glass volumes takes the blue and green colours of nature, reflecting the landscape during the day and becoming transparent at night.
